Where do the Jews Live?
The primary Jewish corridor is Oak Street, which has most of the synagogues and kosher restaurants. However, due to the high cost of living in that neighbourhood, few students live there. Students live all over the city, including on campus and the east side of Vancouver. Kitsilano is also a popular neighbourhood for students which is off campus, but not very far.
Jewish Friends on Campus
Hillel and Chabad are the only places on campus offering kosher food. Off-campus, there are several kosher sushi, Middle-Eastern and vegetarian restaurants as well as the Jewish Community Centre Cafeteria and a Kosher Food Warehouse.
Transportation in BC
The Student Union fees include a bus pass for for the Translink system. Car sharing is also very popular at UBC.
Students from UBC can study at TAU and Hebrew U for Canadian prices thanks to the UBC GoGlobal Lounge! Ben Gurion University and Masa Israel also offer programs, internships and/or scholarships. !
